The tree remembers every year it spent in the water. The grain is written in deep shadows and pale relief, carved by sand and salt and patient friction. Look close and you see the whole story in the wood — the soft parts worn away, the hard parts sharp and insistent, the patterns that mean nothing and everything at once. This is abstraction that happened by accident, sculpture made by the ocean without intention.
