The pilings stand in the shallows like they’re still waiting for boats that aren’t coming back. Low tide reveals what the water usually covers — the wooden bones of the old infrastructure, weathered grey and X-braced, geometric against the muted sky. This is what remains when a place stops needing what it built. The water is patient. The structures remember.
