Fogbound – South Haven, Michigan

Lake Michigan disappears into itself. On this September morning in South Haven, the fog sat so heavy on the water that the horizon line simply stopped existing — sky and lake fused into a single pale wash, with only the low push of waves to mark where one ended and the other began. A weathered driftwood snag anchors the right edge, its limbs bleached and root-knuckled from seasons of ice and surge, while the cobble beach runs north until it, too, thins into gray.
